Kami

About this project.

We worked with creative agency Forsman & Bodenfors and global digital modeling agency The Diigitals to create the world’s first virtual influencer with Down syndrome.

Why we are doing this project.

Virtual influencers do not reflect people with disabilities.

We want the digital world to be an inclusive and welcoming place for people with Down syndrome.

This project contributes to our work on the issue of inclusive organisations.

"I don’t really see people with Down syndrome on social media. I wish there was more like us…. If I saw more people with Down syndrome, it would make us confident in ourselves. Show people what we can do and then show it on social media."

What we are doing.

We worked with more than 100 young women who have Down syndrome from our global network.

We used photos of these women to create ‘Kami’.

These women also helped us to give Kami her voice and personality.

What is a virtual influencer?

Virtual influencers are animations, like ‘cartoons’, created by humans using a computer.

Although they may look real, they do not exist in the real world.

A group of people controls how they look, what they say and their actions.

Virtual influencers are new but are getting very popular.

What Kami will do.

Kami has her own Instagram account where you can follow her.

Kami will give people a peek into her daily life, her likes, her quirks, her friends, and her interests.

She will shine the spotlight on people with Down syndrome.

The approaches we use in this project:

Developing and sharing evidence.

Empowering people to speak up.

Supporting organisations.

Building and leading partnerships

Coordinating advocacy.
